The Way We Talk is a deeply moving Hong Kong film about three deaf youths navigating identity, communication, and the desire to belong.
Sophie (played by Golden Horse winner Chung Suet Ying) was raised with a cochlear implant and trained in oral speech.
But after meeting Wolf (Neo Yau), who proudly uses sign language, and Alan (Marco Ng), a photographer who bridges both worlds,
she begins to question what it means to truly express herself β and who she really is.
Directed by Adam Wong, the film took five years to develop and tells a story rarely seen on screen.
It has received 7 nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best New Performer, Best Original Song, and Best Sound Design.
Chung Suet Ying also won Best Actress at the Golden Horse Awards.
