🎬 The 43rd Hong Kong Film AwardsBest New Performer – Final Five Nominee: Marco Ng (Ng Tsz Ho) | The Way We Talk
To play yourself is difficult. To carry the voice of an entire community—through silence—is extraordinary.
Marco Ng, a first-time actor and member of the Deaf community, has earned a spot in the final five nominees for Best New Performer at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, for his honest and moving performance as Alan in The Way We Talk.
Alan is a young man who received a cochlear implant at a young age and grew up navigating the hearing world. Gentle and thoughtful, he tries to bridge differences between two friends with opposing views on identity and communication. He is not loud. He doesn’t lead the plot with drama. And yet, his presence is unforgettable—because it feels real.
As a Deaf actor playing a Deaf character, Marco Ng does not perform; he embodies. His portrayal brings warmth, nuance, and dignity to a story often overlooked in mainstream cinema. Through his natural gestures, expressions, and quiet strength, we are reminded that visibility is not about volume, but about truth.
This nomination is not just a recognition of a beautiful debut—
It is a moment of representation, respect, and resonance.
In a world full of noise, Marco Ng teaches us how to listen again.
